Miracle Foods...

When we think of food, we immediately think of calories. However I have researched some ‘miracle’ consumptions which have proven to cause weight loss and also an anti ageing remedy. I know it does seem hard to believe, but I have easy, available foods or drinks, that will become your new best friends. The first is obviously water; 8 cups a day is the best guideline, not only making you hydrated (dehydration being mistaken for hunger) but also a great key to keeping skin fresh. The next drink to work its wonders is green tea: studies have shown that drinking four cups of green tea a day could result in weight loss, this being without even changing your diet! It contains antioxidants and increases your energy levels. Red wine helps our digestion, so drinking with a meal is another benefit for us- no more than 4 glasses a week though, and sadly in moderation.

The miracle foods are blueberries, broccoli, nuts and wild fresh salmon. Blueberries are full of antioxidants which protect you against sun damage (helping the skin), contain a potent dose of proanthocyanidins which are beneficial for skin, and are also low in naturally occurring sugars. Broccoli is best cooked steamed or stir fried and is full of fiber, numerous vitamins and minerals, and is well known for reducing the risk of cancer. Eating raw nuts is an excellent source of oils, zinc, vitamin E and selenium. The best nuts for these types of goodness are almonds and walnuts. Snacking on these is good for you and the natural mix of protein and carbohydrate found in the nuts is good for weight loss. Finally the last food miracle food is the wild fresh salmon; this is the one to beat when looking at anti-ageing foods! It’s packed with essential fatty acids which have natural anti-inflammatory compounds and helps keep skin smooth- not only does it help you look beautiful, it’s also good for the brain, which means you won’t be ‘just’ a pretty face!
