Summer hair...

Yes summer is nearing and we all love to be fresh faced and ready for tans! And nothing goes better with this than a good hairdo to improve our natural beauty! To find out the most fashionable styles for this season I went to the Doo Das salon in Maidstone (Kent) to see what styles had become most popular for them.

As I walked in this stylish Salon, I was immediately drawn to the customer having long, blonde hair extensions glued in; her hair looking full and beautiful. I politely asked if I could sit next to the girls doing the extensions and ask them a few questions, which they were happy to do seeming as they had another 3 hours to go! I sat down intrigued and was offered a lovely cup of tea by the recently qualified hair dresser Rachael Hedgecock. Rachael told me how she was training to do hair extensions so she was practising on her model Anna, making her pay only for the hair. I asked Anna if she was nervous about how it would look:

‘No course not! I have nothing but trust in Rachael! Plus I’m getting so much money off these; I’m a very lucky girl! Definitely recommend letting a trainee do them instead’

As I looked around the salon I saw a great age range in customers, all looking very pleased with their end results. I even saw somebody having a leopard print shaved into their head! Very stylish but I know I couldn’t pull it off.

‘So what are the most popular hair styles you’ve been asked to do lately Rachael?’

‘Well, mostly when we style for events we are nearly always asked to curl the hair. Although curly hair is very in at the moment, straight hair is out! The ‘falling out’ fishtail plait is very in for summer, looks lovely when you have really long hair and you hang it over your shoulder. Works for a casual look during the day or even for the evening’.

‘Any particular colouring you’ve had a lot of requests for?’

‘Well as summer nears most of the time people are changing to lighter shades. Blonde is by far the most popular right now’.

So as they continued to do Anna’s hair I packed up my things and left. Anna however, has promised me a finished photo which I now have uploaded below. So, from the wise words of the Doo Das employees, if you’re blonde with curly hair or a fish tail plait then you’re a fashionista this summer.
